Cheery Dark Cherry

on 2 March 2010

I’m sitting here waiting for my cherry cheesecake bites to bake, which in turn reminded me about our new Dark Cherry Syrup at Starbucks.

Now, not every area will have this out already. The official rollout is next Tuesday; however, we are all being told to sell it now. Don’t blame us, blame our superiors.

Anyway, it’s a pretty amazing syrup with a lot of possibilities. I thought that I’d share some of the drinks and ideas my coworkers and I have come up with over the past few days. We’ve had a lot of fun experimenting and sampling out to customers, so I hope you have fun with it too!

Ideas for our new syrup:

White Chocolate Cherry Mocha– Pair it with white mocha for an extra sweet treat.

Cherry Macchiato– Dark cherry syrup replaces the vanilla, and mocha replaces the caramel drizzle. Only for the very brave espresso lovers!

Cherry Strawberries and Cream– Sweeten your Frappuccino with dark cherry instead of plain classic syrup.

Signature Cherry Hot Chocolate– While supplies last, a cherry chocolate treat! It works really well as a classic hot chocolate as well; very addicting.

Italian Cherry Soda– Pair a San Pellegrino sparkling water with three pumps cherry syrup. Add breve if you’re feeling bold!

Blackberry Cherry Water– I know that our new blackberry water prides itself on being sugar-free, but the cherry syrup greatly improves the taste. Just sayin’.

Cherry Passion– Sweeten your iced passion tea with cherry instead of classic. It’s probably good as a Passion Tea Lemonade as well.

Cherry Strawberry Banana Vivano– Light and refreshing, but ask for five pumps of cherry if you want more than a hint of its taste.

Banana Chocolate Cherry Vivano– Dessert just got healthier! I’d leave out the protein powder, unless that’s really your cup of tea.

There you have it! We’ve tried most of these, as well as adding it to all of our mocha based drinks- Mochas, Black and White Mochas, Java Chip Frappuccino, Double Chocolately Chip Frappuccio, and so on. Get creative, try the new syrup out, and if you come up with other drinks drop me a comment!
